APOMORPHIC OF COMPLEX PATTERNS
Based on study trips to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, experiences and impressions were reflected as a series of newly acquired characteristics in the conception and reception of artistic research. This was demonstrated not only by the group exhibition UND#8, Dragonerkaserne, Karlsruhe, but above all by the solo show Apomorphiekomplexe Muster, >0, Karlsruhe.
Some works, such as Laima or Germanen Pop, combined symbolic elements of practiced tradition and Latvian mythology with current social trends as snapshots of a post-Soviet era with a pro-European but sovereign national consciousness.
The exhibition raised questions about (European) identity, belonging and the individual positioning of each person as a citizen at the social micro, meso and macro levels.
